Gold Panning Fun

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Nanini Library

Description

Try to find flakes of real gold in sand from a proven gold-producing area with experienced gold panner, Dave "Lost Dutchman" DeGroot. Prospectors from age 4 to 104 will receive expert instruction on the basics of gold panning. Who knows? Some lucky person in your family may find a little flake of gold, or if not gold, some other spot of color in the pan.

Also on the patio will be a display of rocks and minerals, and library resources that could help you and your family go out and prospect for gold on your own.

Presented by Dave DeGroot, retired Sahuarita Teacher, Cartoonist, Arizona Master Naturalist Intern, Friends of Madera Canyon Docent.
