Stone Carving for Youth

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Martha Cooper Library

Description

Join us at the library to have fun while learning about rocks, what they are made of, and how we classify them. Rocks and minerals play a valuable role in nature such as providing soil nutrients and habitat for animals in the Sonoran Desert. Students will learn about the rock cycle and explore examples of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Older kids and teens will learn to shape and polish a piece of alabaster stone to take home. All materials provided.
