Álvaro Enrigue is a prize-winning Mexican writer whose most recently released novel is “Now I Surrender." He is also the author of “You Dreamed of Empires.” His work has appeared in The New York Times, The London Review of Books, El País, and n+1, among other publications. A former Fellow at the Cullman Center and at Princeton University, he teaches Latin American Literature at Hofstra University and lives with his family in New York City.


Two sure signs of spring in Tucson? White flowers will appear on our saguaros and Luis Alberto Urrea will appear at our festival of books. The author of "Good Night, Irene," "The House of Broken Angels," and The Devil's Highway," Urrea will be making his 17th straight visit in March. Urrea lived here while writing "The Hummingbird's Daughter" in the early 1990s. Welcome back, Luis Urrea!
