This is a short but powerful book that brings into focus the hardships and horrors of Jewish children in WWII, and a Japanese woman determined to discover their stories. Hana's Suitcase is a heartbreaking yet hopeful memoir.

This book is such a educational one! It will be such a wonderful, colorful, and classical introduction to the Holocaust for younger children who are still learning. When we studied this topic in history class back in third grade, I…

This was a good introduction For my kids to the Holocaust. We also borrowed the audio book to listen and read along. There are present day elements as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it is very close to home because of George Brady who lives in Toronto now. This is good for kids to learn about values of being a human being and respect everyone else around us.

In essence, Hana's Suitcase is two stories: the first of Fumiko, a Japanese woman in the year 2000, working to bring the Holocaust to children in Japan who would never learn of it otherwise; the second of Hana and her family, the Bradys,…

It was really sad. Hana didn't even know that she was going to be put into a gas chamber instead of meeting up with her older brother. But otherwise, it was a great true story. I even met George Brady, her brother, at my school.

Despite some of the depressing parts this book is really well written, it was the only book about the Holocaust that I have ever found enjoyable.

This story is very simple and easy to follow but it's an amazing story. It's so weird to think that a suitcase could exist in one world and then fifty years later exist in an entirely different one.
