You can definitely tell when Crichton's writing stops, and the other author begins. It was an interesting story, however.

Crichton's ability to mix sci-fi and adventure with a sort of science education is genius---you come away feeling like you've just explored a different reality as well as a lot smarter about the one you live in.

While I did enjoy this story, it felt like it had been written by someone who has read a lot of Crichton's works, not Crichton himself. I know it was published posthumously and that the publisher claimed "the bulk of the work on it was…

This was a throwback to the Crichton novels that I've loved: Congo, Sphere, Jurassic Park, Timeline. He was the master of a certain format: a group of diverse people, usually brilliant, are thrown into fantastical and deadly situations and…

This book and I just didnt’t click. I made it to page 97 before I decided to throw in the towel. For me, it just seemed a little to artificial, too “hung-ho”: more like the script for a made-for-tv movie (think $8 million man remember that…

Just read a comment on another Crichton novel complaining that it was a chain of suspenseful events, each one more unbelievable than the preceding ones. I disagreed with that criticism of 'Sphere', which I found entirely believable and…

I really enjoyed this book! I thought that the entire concept was really cool and it really got me thinking about how much of nature and the world we still haven't explored. I would have liked it if more of the characters had stayed alive…

"Honey, I shrunk the graduates." I was disappointed that the description of this book was very misleading about the actual storyline. I wouldn't have wasted my time if I'd known. Lots of plot holes, some of which are actually pointed…

I read Michael Crichton's Micro back when it was first on PCPL's Express shelf, and I immediately loved it. As usual, Crichton's thorough research illuminates the reader's view through the dark roller coaster ride that is his writing,…

Loved this book. Was hard to put down.

I can't understand why he's no longer with us and I still am. How could one man accomplish so much in his short time with us is amazing. To have time to write SEVEN books while being an honors student at Harvard Med School?? That just…

I thought this story was fascinating. I've never thought about life at the micro level, and I always walk away from his books feeling like I've learned something. It might not be the best Crichton book ever, but judged on its own merit it…

This is the first novel I have read where Crichton disappointed me.

I found it initially hard to get into this book as it's very much a mans story (not much character development) but once people started getting killed off you can't help but get sucked in. Bit of a disappointing end but maybe that's…

It would be interesting to know exactly where the second author took over. This started out as a promising story, but the change in authorship is quite obvious in the second half of the book, and sadly there doesn't appear to have been…

I thought it was good, but I agree with another commenter that you have to suspend disbelief to not get annoyed with some of it - in that way, there was definitely room for improvements.

It kept my attention, although I wouldn't rank it as one of Crichton's better books. As always, however, he is very prescient - already I'm reading about micro-drone technologies (although not developed in the manner laid out in this…

I have been reading many good books recently, and this one written by Michael Crichton w/ Richard Preston are right up there at the top. I enjoyed the style from beginning to end, not being sure where Richard took over to finish the book.…

Definitely a classic Michael Crichton book. A ridiculous and unpredictable plot line. Noticeable author change, but overall excellent book with intriguing and new concepts. I especially like the sources listed in the bibliography which…

Has the nut of a Crichton book but with Preston finishing it falls off into adventure only._________It's good adventure with a wealth of bio research put to good story telling._______Crichton books are special and thus the problem.…

I enjoyed the plot and the idea, but found the writing a bit weird and irritating. I didn't like the way the characters were named using their first and last names, every time they were mentioned. I read their names so many times I'll…

a bit of science, engineering thrown in this mystery. I found myself feeling itchy, worrying about micro-invaders.

Really enjoyed this one, it's on par with Jurassic Park. Some of the scenes are pretty predictable, but it's still a good page-turner and hard to put down. Although, reader beware if you're really creeped out by bugs ;)

An easy read and fast-paced. Good for an airplane trip. Not nearly as good as "Andromeda Strain" though.
