Everything Sara Wheeler writes is fascinating. There were so many amazing passages in this book I had to read aloud to my family and anyone in the vicinity. Along with many other 'firsts' in this book of the Scott expedition to the Antarctic, Cherry was with the first group of explorers to discover how the Emperor penguins care for their eggs over the winter.
