I personally recommend this book for parents to read to their children. This book was not only enlightening but engaging. It spoke from the dolls perspective on the race to freedom. This book includes engaging pictures and an ending that will bring you to joyous tears. At the end of the story it explains where the writer got her story and the historical facts. She wanted to create this story from the dolls point of views form and I for one believe she captured it exquisitely. This tale not only keeps you involved it keeps you at the edge of your seat. But be warned that is does tell about the hardships of slavery.

"But when folks start talkin' about something called Freedom, their faces turn serious in the firelight.... Seems the only other way to get it is to run away to a place called North."
