The torment of this young man's journey is heavily peppered with biblical quotes and a deep sense of guilt about his own feelings. Too burdened with Christian polemics for me.

A touching and relatable story about first love. This was the first graphic novel I ever read and is still one of my favourites.

I have a weakness for stories like this, and Thompson's crisis of faith hit very close to home for my own life. Very moving, and the art is beautiful.

While this story is at times what appears to be a beautiful look at first love, I found it overwhelmingly sad. Between Craig's own crisis of faith, past dealing with abuse, and Raina's parents divorce and overall dysfunctional family I felt with such a bleak ending this graphic novel left much to be desired. I'm unsure what the final message was, beyond 'nothing lasts forever' which isn't exactly inspiring. However, it's still a compelling read that shouldn't take more than four hours.

This is one of the most beautiful, coming-of-age, first-love stories I have ever read. And the art is incredible. It's a great story about conflict of faith and religion and being an adult. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Don't be discouraged by the size of this graphic novel. It's a pleasant and surprisingly quick read, beautifully illustrated and filled with a lot of heart.

Wow... were to begin. "Blankets" is a captivating journey through the eyes of a teen finding meaning and love in the world for the first time. But as he quickly learns life and faith are more complicated than the world seems to tell you as a child. The art work is what (for me) takes it to the next level. Thompson can illustrate for pages and convey feeling and meaning that just wouldn't be the same with words. This is a graphic for everyone ... its just so beautiful it hurts.

Not one of the better graphic novels I've read...and I've only read two. The saving grace of a mediocre graphic novel is the speed with which you can "just finish it".
Seriously, the story was interesting until the love interest and religious obsession became excessive. I appreciated the art and the honesty of the story, but the book weighed way too much.

This charming autobiographic perfectly captures all of the stunning beauty and brutality of the artist's troubled teenage years. Full of bittersweet emotions, this unique book captures the intense feeling of being so in love that it hurts.

The story didn't interest me, a mature adult, but a teenager or young adult may find the coming of age subject more interesting. Easy to read, despite its long page count.
