I enjoyed this very much. Well presented. Strong story. Well acted. If you love a non-fiction story using fiction names and places describing what it was like to live late 1800's you will love this story. That is what Jane Austin effectively preserves in her verbatim of the rules of love and the societal class system which existed. It represents what limited options females were allowed in society. Women were unable to follow a career, go to school. Women could only marry to secure their future. They had to try to marry the riches man possible to insure they did not starve or be homeless. The marriage they picked secured the future for their children too. There was no birth control then. If a female risked pregnancy out of wedlock, she was abandoned left to die and so was her child. Thank god, the present society in North American has advanced since then and women have more options.

Haven't read any of the books, saw bits of other movies and drum roll please this is the best and most entertaining. Colin is Mr. Darcy. There is electricity between him and Lizzie. Some will disagree but watch them both closely, the looks that pass between they whoa. Far more romantic than words or action.

Janeites agree: It's the wet-shirt contest to beat all wet (regency) shirt contests.

This is what sticks in my mind as the definitive Pride & Prejudice, until I get around to reading the book. ;).

I love the feel and though the extended length can seem dull at times, I found I enjoyed the 'stroll-like' qualities of the film after a while. I did try the newer film but found it just went by too fast and the acting felt rushed after seeing this version multiple times.

I have loved this rendition of P&P for years, and it was lovely to watch it on blu-ray for the first time. I also loved the extra features about the making of the series, the world of Jane Austen, etc. Definitely one to watch even if you've seen this before!

This is absolutely the best film adaptation of the novel. It maintains the dry humour of the characters, and doesn't go all dewy-eyed, romance-novel on the story. I almost always think that any book is better than the movie made from it, but this shows how well an adaptation can be made.

Great adaptation... Colin Firth does great justice to Mr. Darcy. Well done!

By far the best video adaptation of the timeless classic. The fact that it's six hours long really helps as there's plenty of time to tell the story. Wonderfully cast and acted. If only Mrs. Bennet wasn't quite so shrill I'd say it's nearly perfect. A star-making role for Colin Firth.

This comes as close as one can hope, in this less than perfect world, to the ideal rendering of Austen's great novel.

Even the shrill, relentless awfulness of mother Bennett -- deplored by some reviewers -- is both faithful to the book and necessary if Darcy is not to be a hopeless prig in reality as well as in the eyes of the prejudiced Elisabeth.

And what praise can do justice to Mr. Collins?
