This documentary is presumably a companion to Prof. Michael D. Coe's book "Breaking the Maya Code" (1992). That book is a very accessible and highly readable account of the decipherment of Mayan hieroglyphics. Coe is the author of a number of books on the Mayans specifically, and on the Mesoamerican civilizations more broadly.
His later book, “Reading the Maya Glyphs” (2001) -- which I have not read -- is apparently a more scholarly account intended for linguists and other specialists, rather than the general reader.
This 54-minute documentary was made by David Lebrun in 2008 for the PBS programme "Nova". Lebrun, that same year, had made a 2-hour stand-alone documentary on the same subject. The long documentary is called “Breaking the Maya Code", just like Prof. Coe's book.

I wish the documentary could have discussed more how the cracking was done.

Fascinating history of decoding Maya writings. It's pity all Mayas books were destroyed, we could learn so much about their history

Focuses on how the Ancient Mayan written "code" was decoded, and how it is currently helping modern Mayans get back in touch with their past heritage. And, of course, giving a glimpse for everyone of the culture, rituals, and systems that existed for this ancient, powerful group.
