This is a clear account of what eleven-year-old Terry Jo Duperrault suffered through when her family's vacation aboard a sailing yacht (the Bluebell) went terribly wrong. The author has done a good job of detailing the events and researching the background of the captain, Julian Harvey. The death of Joan, one of Harvey's many wives, along with her mother seems incredibly suspicious to me. It is too bad the police at that time did not do a more thorough job! Perhaps Harvey would have been in prison and the terrible tragedy would never have occurred! The author has also brought Terry Jo, the child, to life for us by describing her youthful adventures during happier times. I loved reading how Terry Jo would hide from secret enemies in her secure backyard. The secret enemies were usually the golfers on the adjoining golf course.

It is a sad and upsetting story, but encouraging to see how Terry Jo has pulled through and been supported by a wonderful family.
