Gosh, now I understand why Ann Bannon is such an icon. She wrote about common lesbian themes with such tenderness and tact at a time when being gay was a crime. I can only imagine what a treasure, what a positive affirmation her books must have been to closeted lesbians everywhere. I'm so grateful to her for the legacy she left for us.
