It's a cozy smalltown mystery with a spunky heroine and a talking dog, I wasn't expecting great literature. The first chapter had Elvis puns and funny remarks that summed up each character's personality in a nutshell. All the remaining chapters were exactly the same. Put this on the shelf next to Dan Brown.

Hm. For the first time, I am less than utterly charmed. Callie and Elvis take turns narrating the chapters, and usually I prever the basset hound over the human. This time though, poor Elvis's tendency to work song titles into his sentences quickly crossed the line from adorable to annoying. I hope this isn't a new habit he's picked up.
