This was enjoyable but I'm looking forward to seeing Mr. Nesbo's improvement as a writer.

Reading, it's difficult to forget how Nesbø improved when he cut out the exotic sets for the "god I love this city" of Oslo with Mankel-type maps and cityscape familiarity. Here he places the desperately vacant Hole as a tourist who must explain colonial evils as filler between being smashed. It's still worthwhile to feel how the stilted writing and shallow character evolved, but tne author now needs to get out of his serial addiction to sure-fire sales.
