I don't know how you feel about candy - But, I love it (although I would never, ever say that I was a full-fledged sugar-addict).

This colorful history of candy will certainly give you a pretty good idea of just how wide-spread candy's popularity is today in this age of fast-food and the craving for sugar that seems to be virtually limitless.

Have you had your allotted sugar-fix for today?

Well - If you are like many Canadians and Americans these days, candy (of one sort or another) has become an important part of your daily diet.

And, hey! - Why not!? - Candy tastes so yummy and eating it is certainly one of the best ways to reward yourself when you desperately crave a little "pick-me-up".

Delightfully written by American university grad, Samira Kawash - "Candy - A Century of Panic and Pleasure" is a truly enjoyable work of non-fiction that is not only sure to spark your interest about the long history of candy - But, it will also give you an honest perspective on the pros and cons of consuming this calorie-loaded junk-food, as well.

As an added bonus - There are 16 pages of vintage photographs included in this volume, too.

I enjoyed reading about the subtle shift in American attitudes towards candy and junk food. It swayed back and forth between positive and negative light. The author invites you to form your own opinion about the snacks themselves and about the industry behind it.
