WOW! Terrific, imaginative fantasy for dragon lovers and fans of well-built and compelling fantasy worlds. This is a brutal book in some ways -- not for upper elementary. Middle schoolers, high school and adults will love entering the wyrmewweald and won't want to leave. I am very happy that the full trilogy is already published so I can keep reading. Don't check this out unless you are free to read it in an addictive way. One of the lovely touches is the author's language; He uses kennings, Beowolf's writer's favorite kind of word use. This fantasy is not wholly original -- it borrows, like so many other books, from Anne McCaffrey's idea of how dragons and humans communicate, but it borrows lightly and adapts the concept beautifully to a new world. Get this in the hands of the right audience and you will have loyal following.
