I digitally stumbled across this book when I was looking for the movie Pitch Perfect. I like the simple way in which the book is written. There is nothing really earth-shattering about the content of the book, but it is really an eye re-opener. The book is practical as it highlights the everyday issues in communication, and also offers practical tips.

I find some of the names of the principles lacking. For example, the pasta-sauce principle. Well, what if someone grew up in India or Guatemala and is not familiar with pasta. Why not curry sauce or salsa? It would have been better to have a more generic concept for cross-cultural understanding. Nevertheless, the explanation was clear so I understood the concept.

The Draper Principle...that's also silly and cheesy. Not everyone watches Mad Men. I also did not quite agree with his explanation of Don Draper but still I understood the principle. Should have used a more universal figure.

The book was good enough that I created a summary of the key points on Word for future reference. It's an easy read and I would think would be a useful book to read for everyone.
