NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “Mac is back and badder than ever!”—J. R. Ward

MacKayla Lane and Jericho Barrons return in Burned, the latest novel in the blockbuster Fever series from Karen Marie Moning.

It’s easy to walk away from lies. Power is another thing.

MacKayla Lane would do anything to save the home she loves. A gifted sidhe-seer, she’s already fought and defeated the deadlySinsar Dubh—an ancient book of terrible evil—yet its hold on her has never been stronger.

When the wall that protected humans from the seductive, insatiable Fae was destroyed on Halloween, long-imprisoned immortals ravaged the planet. Now Dublin is a war zone with factions battling for control. As the city heats up and the ice left by the Hoar Frost King melts, tempers flare, passions run red-hot, and dangerous lines get crossed. Seelie and Unseelie vie for power against nine ancient immortals who have governed Dublin for millennia; a rival band ofsidhe-seers invades the city, determined to claim it for their own; Mac’s former protégé and best friend, Dani “Mega” O’Malley, is now her fierce enemy; and even more urgent, Highland druid Christian MacKeltar has been captured by the Crimson Hag and is being driven deeper into Unseelie madness with each passing day. The only one Mac can depend on is the powerful, dangerous immortal Jericho Barrons, but even their fiery bond is tested by betrayal.

It’s a world where staying alive is a constant struggle, the line between good and evil is blurred, and every alliance comes at a price. In an epic battle against dark forces, Mac must decide who she can trust, and what her survival is ultimately worth.

I find the series DELIGHTFUL, and a great non-chemical mood-lifter & destressor from my real-life troubles. These books are for the red-blooded grown adult who enjoys full-hearted hotness, romance and action stories. Great World-building, beautiful imagery! No boring dead-trouts here!
Burned #7 presents multiple points-of-view (POV) very nicely, sometimes hilariously (Lor!!!), sometimes very touchingly. Mac & Barrons undergo relationship growing pains. Mac is evolving with quiet little hints here & there, but it's a silent fizz, like wine developing in a barrel, leading to further surprises. Dani pays a rather Karmic price for deeds done. I did love Dani's character, she reminded me of Child Soldier Nux of Mad Max - Fury Road, mentally old & damaged beyond her years, suicidally reckless. There's a lot of story setup for the next books, but I'm loving it, cannot wait, and rereading the previous books too. There's quite a bit of detail, so I'm always finding something I missed.

Book 7 of Fever series, preceded by Iced and followed by Feverborn. This was supposed to be the 2nd installment in Dani's story, but it didn't follow the same flow as Iced. This book had multiple POV's - mostly Mac's, and the rest were Dani, Jada, Lor, Christian, Kat and even the Unseelie King. The story started right after Iced finished, and quickly twisted into something a bit unexpected - a lot of revelations and building towards the next book. Since Mac is the one mostly telling the story, I find that I really miss Dani. I am hoping that Ryodan is able to "find" Dani like Barrons was able to bring Mac back from being priya. I am looking forward to the next book - especially to see how Lor's story develops.

If you don't like sexual writing in the books, I would not read her first series she released. It was the first books I read from her and I now own the complete series and also all of these up to Iced but KMM is known for her hot steamy sex scenes in her books. Aside from that I got to say I like these books better than 50 shades. Can't wait to get my hands on this one!

I truly enjoyed all of the books in this series up til now (read them twice), but I was truly disappointed in this book. The story took on such sexual/porn tones from the get go that using the word skimmed would be too generous. I kept thinking, surely the author has children in her family, why would she write this #%*&### stuff. Pre-"Burned" Mac had a refreshing moral compass on her words, well that's over, I'll miss that Mac. I felt the plot was weak, the ending, unbelievably flat. What a relief, couldn't check it back in at the library fast enough.
