A good book. Coben explored a lot of exciting ideas and had a good storyline, but I feel as though everything was a bit too predictable. A thriller like this should not have such a 'happy ending'.

Golly, I really don't understand why people like this author - - this was such a poor book - - is it supposed to be a police procedural (failed)? A chic lit/detective novel (failed)? Who knows . . .
Poor characterizations throughout, unsatisfactory writing throughout.
[Evidently his detective character, Kat Donovan, is unable to think or act for herself, and requires various male officers to do all her thinking and detecting for her?]

Great book, original plot, unexpected twists, very enjoyable read

I've been reading Harlan Coben books for years. Whenever I run out of ideas on what to read, I know I can turn to his shelf in the library for something easy but engaging. I used to really love his Myron Bolitar series of books. And I've always appreciated his locality--he focuses on the NY/NJ area, where I live, so I can often picture the exact neighborhoods and spots he mentions. But this book made me want to throw it across the room in only 19 pages. I persevered, but only to my dismay. His style has become so incredibly predictable, even the titles seem entirely too cliche. And in this book I think he tried terribly too hard to keep up with the times. Mentioning the god-awful song "Blurred Lines", using the term "transvestite" (don't think people would appreciate that term, so his attempt at inclusivity really ended up being a miss there), mentioning things like do-rags (as a turn-off), etc. And I still don't think he knows how caller ID works, exactly. I'm also unfortunately finding some of his devices to be overused/overdone. Like the ironic why-do-I-love-NY sarcastic one-liners. We get it. New York has trash. People like it anyway, yes, we know. I'm also not of the opinion that he writes women well. Writing from the viewpoint of Kat, seeing how men treat her friend Stacy, it's actually not unrealistic in a sense that men do catcall and ogle very often, but their actual advances seem super contrived here. One last thing: if I read the phrase "pay dirt" one more time, I WILL scream.

Pulls you in like quicksand. Not sure I will look at internet dating EVER. Very entertaining. Plan on a few late nights trying yo finish the book.

I wouldn't categorize it as an excellent read, but just a good read. Interesting enough although I guessed the outcome before the ending. Also, found two errors, do they not proof read ? Makes it hard to like an author when mistakes like this are made. Mistakes : say instead of stay and him had instead of had him. Had to re- read sentences twice. Sloppy .

An excellent read. Fast pace, good characterization, interesting and believable plot.

I really like Harlen Coben and the Kat Donovan character, but this book was really weak. Forced myself to finish the whole thing because I kept hoping it would get better. It didn't. The narrater on the CD is good, though.

I have read half of Harlan Cobens books. I've loved all of them. I read this one in a week I liked it didn't love it. I liked that it was a female lead character since usually it s not. Spoiler alert: However I was kind of disappointed with the ending. The book would have been perfect if they hadn't ended with the last punch.

Another good one from an author I really enjoy reading.
