While I like Johannsen's Eve Duncan & Catherine Ling series, this one felt like it was phoned in. By the end, it was overly obvious what was going to happen & it pretty much fizzled at that point. You no longer care how it ends, if you get that far. Johannsen has written far better than this.

Have to admit, I found the book kind of funny but probably not in the way the author intended. I haven't read any by this author but she's listed as a New York Times bestselling author so this is not likely one of her best efforts.

This book would make a great graphic novel, but I didn't feel like it was a great read. The many paranormal elements at play overshadow (obliterate?) spycraft and suspense, and I felt the author relied too heavily on Ling and Cameron's memories of an intimate encounter from the previous book to justify the connection we're supposed to believe they have in the present one.
