This beautiful story although fiction is based on real fact. China's one child policy has resulted in many baby girls being abandoned by parents as well as children born with birth defects being left to die. Many of thes children are being adopted by Americans, including the author of this book. The story is about Kara, an abandoned child being hidden by an American mother too old to adopt. We are taken along on Kara's journey through beautiful lyrical prose to a hear trending conclusion. A must read for children and adults of all ages.
