This is a strange little book, but I think I enjoyed it that much because of it. As a child, I know I would have been thrilled to learn about the more complex shapes included in this book.

This is a cute monster story and would work great for a monster themed or even a fair themed storytime. It does include shapes, and more complex then just your basic shapes, and kids will enjoy seeing the shapes highlighted in the illustrations on each page.

Great book! Very simple and my daughter loves finding the monster in all the pictures. She even says Rhombus and Hexagon now.

Steve Light's "Have You Seen My . . . " picture book series is amazing. They have a look and feel somewhere between contemporary coloring books for grown ups and Crockett Johnson's Harold and the Purple Crayon series, and some great conceptual material is embedded, as well. Also, if your kids are into maps on inside covers depicting the story's journey, these are unmatched.

A little girl has lost her monster at the county fair, and she needs your help to find him! Can you see the monster riding the ferris wheel? Is he playing in the funhouse? Or maybe that's him in the marching band… Locating the friendly-looking monster against each spread of black-and-white illustrations presents a satisfying challenge for young readers, as does identifying the brightly coloured shapes hidden on each page. Kids who like the busy artwork and math-based interactivity of Have You Seen My Monster? will also enjoy author/illustrator Steve Light's previous book, Have You Seen My Dragon?
