I like this book because it's exciting.

A spooky horror that gets things just right for young readers new to chapter books. Just scary enough, just easy, accessible, and illustrated enough, just enough early tension and foreshadowing with good pacing. It's even ambiguous enough at the beginning for readers to assume, if they choose, that the terrors are imagined and psychological instead of supernatural, nicely isolating the protagonist (and readers) to increase his fear. A good choice for those who want to be scared and are too young for longer fare.

My 8-year-old grandson says this is the very best book he has ever read. He is only required to read for 20 minutes, but after 40 minutes, he said something I never thought I would hear him say: "I want to read more!" He finished the whole book in one evening. Now he can't wait to read more stories about Eerie Elementary School. He likes it because it has mystery, adventure and enough scariness to make him want to find the conclusion. The illustrations also added so much to his enjoyment.

My 8-year old daughter absolutely loves this series. She flies right through the books and can hardly wait for future editions to come out! I highly recommend it for all young readers who have a sense of adventure!

This series is so much fun! It's a beginning chapter book with lots of pictures and just the right level of terror for early grade school kids.
