Now in hardcover for the first time— book five in the New York Times bestselling Dresden Files series!Harry Dresden, Chicago's only practicing professional wizard, should be happy that business is pretty good for a change. But he also knows that whenever things are going good, the only way left for them to go is bad. Way bad.Recent examples: A duel with the lethal champion of the Red Court, who must kill Harry to end the war between vampires and wizards…Hit men using Harry for target practice…The missing Shroud of Turin—and the possible involvement of Chicago's most feared mob boss…A handless and headless corpse the Chicago police need identified…Not to mention the return of Harry's ex-girlfriend Susan, who's still struggling with her semi-vampiric nature—and who seems to have a new man in her life. Some days, it just doesn't pay to get out of bed. No matter how much you're charging.

Opinion

From Library Staff

Dresden is really in for it now: the White Council and the Vampires are prepping for war, and both sides blame him.

Death Masks features wise-cracking wizard Harry Dresden and its main plot is centred on the theft of the Shroud of Turin. A side plot includes a duel to the death with a vampire. There’s lots of action, wizardry, and enough general spookiness to suit a multitude of tastes in this supernatural smorgasbord. There are some sidebar themes on the nature of good and evil and the choice to act accordingly but they aren’t heavy-handed and don’t spoil the fun.

best one the harry books so far. some many questions to be left with but man what a book the narrator pulled me and didn't let me go until the end the only down fall is that u have to watch if u put it in a device it won't tell u what disk ur on but all the same the book was fast paced and action packed we learn more about Harry and those around him, but not for those over the age of 18 some parts are intense with content maybe 16 but i would advise parents to read first if their kid wanted to read it some parts are really adult. Loved the syfy show the books were about made it even better. jim butcher is one heck of a story teller.
