"The book every LGBT person would have killed for as a teenager, told in the voice of a wise best friend. Frank, warm, funny, USEFUL." -Patrick Ness, bestselling author

Lesbian. Bisexual. Queer. Transgender. Straight. Curious. This book is for everyone, regardless of gender or sexual preference. This book is for anyone who's ever dared to wonder. This book is for YOU.

There's a long-running joke that, after "coming out," a lesbian, gay guy, bisexual, or trans person should receive a membership card and instruction manual. THIS IS THAT INSTRUCTION MANUAL. You're welcome.

Inside you'll find the answers to all the questions you ever wanted to ask: from sex to politics, hooking up to stereotypes, coming out and more. This candid, funny, and uncensored exploration of sexuality and what it's like to grow up LGBT also includes real stories from people across the gender and sexual spectrums, not to mention hilarious illustrations.

You will be entertained. You will be informed. But most importantly, you will know that however you identify (or don't) and whomever you love, you are exceptional. You matter. And so does this book.

As the grandparent of a transgender teen, I found this to be extremely enlightening and helpful. I will buy it for my grandkid if I find a copy, as I'm betting they will find it very useful and helpful as well. I wish this book had been available to my generation when there were so many people without any resources and facing such incredible public ignorance.

This is a really well written, humorous and often serious discussion of what people can expect when they accept their sexuality, and enter the LGBT world. It is full of compassion, and its frank discussion of gay sexuality is funny, illustrated with silly cartoons, and sensitive at the same time. Reading it as a heterosexual, or, (as I now understand,) 'cis' gendered woman, I learned from it and really appreciated it. It is, as many have said, the manual they wish had been available for them.

Great starting point for anyone who wants to know more about the A-Z of LGBT!
Originally published in the UK which is reflected in the personal stories and some of the language, but still obviously applicable to US readers.
