From Library Staff

"The theme of The Mistletoe Inn is that like literature, relationships must be lived with passion and vulnerability to succeed."

After reading Mistletoe Promise I wasn't sure what to expect from this novel. While a good love story, Mistletoe Promise tackled some serious issues. Mistletoe Inn, however, was a gentler read. While there were serious issues tackled (Kim's father is diagnosed with colon cancer and her mother committed suicide when she was a child), this novel was more hopeful. This novel does tackle of the issues of depression, suicide, illness, and loss. Both the main characters have been scarred by their pasts, but ultimately hope infuses this novel. There is the romance and I loved the setting of a romance conference in Vermont. This was a lighter read than the first book, but definitely more of what I was looking for in a Christmas novel. It has its serious moments, but it also has romance and hope as well.

A pleasant Christmas read. Although I did figure out early on what was going on it still was interesting and a feel good story to give hope to anyone feeling bad about their life and how things were turning out. What a delight if everyone found a Zeke in their life.

All right, I'll admit it: I'm a sucker for Richard Paul Evans' books! Easy to read, enjoyable and engaging.

Another quick, light-hearted holiday book from RPE. Not quite as good as last year's Mistletoe Promise, but still enjoyable. Sometimes you just need a feel-good story to cleanse the reading palate in between the books with more dark and serious subject matter.

Trauma has a way of indelibly linking the incidentals to the profound.
