Since her best friend Oliver was kidnapped ten years ago, Emmy's parents have smothered her with their relentless worry, and when Oliver suddenly reappears in his hometown, he and Emmy struggle to face the messy, confusing consequences of the crime.

HARPERCOLL

Emmy and Oliver were going to be best friends forever, or maybe even more, before their futures were ripped apart. In Emmy's soul, despite the space and time between them, their connection has never been severed. But is their story still written in the stars? Or are their hearts like the pieces of two different puzzles—impossible to fit together?

Emmy just wants to be in charge of her own life. . . . She wants to stay out late, surf her favorite beach—go anywhere without her parents' relentless worrying. But Emmy's parents can't seem to let her grow up—not since the day Oliver disappeared.

Oliver needs a moment to figure out his heart. . . . He'd thought, all these years, that his dad was the good guy. He never knew that it was his father who had kidnapped him and kept him on the run. Discovering it, and finding himself returned to his old hometown, all at once, has his heart racing, and his thoughts swirling.

Readers who love Sarah Dessen will devour these pages with hearts in throats as Emmy and Oliver struggle to face the messy, confusing consequences of Oliver's father's crime. Full of romance, coming-of-age emotion, and heartache, these two equally compelling characters create an unforgettable story.

I loved this book! A sweet innocent friendship/love story. Does have some language in it, however.

Just what I needed! I read it in one sitting, and I'm so glad. It was light and fluffy- with just enough substance to keep the plot moving. I would have liked to learn a little more about Caro and a little less about Drew, but I loved Emmy and Oliver both as individuals and as a couple, and I definitely loved their interactions and the way the book was set up. 4/5 stars, recommended for anyone looking for something to breeze through with a happy ending.

Emmy & Oliver is an awesome read. Emmy is a high-schooler who lives day-to-day with her parents hovering ever since her best friend, Oliver, was kidnapped by his dad. Fast-forward to her senior year of high school and Oliver has returned. Oliver found out he was kidnapped by his dad although his dad told Oliver his mom abandoned them. Emmy has her friend back but does not mean her parents will discontinue the hovering. As the two rediscover their friendship, they discover they would like to be more than that. A coming-of-age, romantic, teen love that I read in two days. A great story that was heartbreaking at times and funny at others. Loved it!

this was a good book with a nice touching story. Emmy lost her best friend Oliver when he was kidnapped by his dad when they were 7. Now ten years later Oliver is back. I enjoyed the progression of the friendship becoming a romance. The only thing that would have made the book better was it had included Oliver's prescriptive as well.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. Great, easy read! Reminded me of my own adolescence. A great read for both teens and parents.
