There is something about Islands. A certain mentality perhaps? Certainly got the feeling of isolation and desolation of a place where the ocean surrounds and where life is simple. I would like to read more of this character.

This is an introduction to Christine, the Canadian police detective who specializes in psychological profiling. Well written, some nice twists of plot and as suggested by GLNovak, a great insight into small town life where everyone knows eveyon's business [especially who is going to inherit the farm]. Look forward to reading more by this author.

Good easy read. The outcome was hinted at throughout the book, but you still wanted to read to the end because of the descriptions of the landscape and lifestyle of the Isle of Lewis in the Hebrides. Maybe more so because of the author's letting us into the workings of Christine's mind. I became quite involved with her and with the rugged island life where everyone knows everyone and their ancestors - much like the Atlantic provinces, especially Cape Breton area.
