Nice to get back together with the characters from the Harry Potter series. However, I thought The Cursed Child was a curious mix between a short story and a play – giving too much information and stage direction for a play, but not enough for a short story. Ok, but not as fabulous as I might hav... Read More »

I love every book of the Harry Potter series, so of course I was anxious to read this book. The fact that it was a play rather than a novel was a little off-putting, but it did not hinder my reading it like a novel as much as I thought it would. I waited a few months for the audiobook version to come out (as I do not enjoy sitting still to read a book), but it's still not available. So, I decided to read the actual BOOK book. SO WORTH IT! I am a slow reader, so reading a book this size would normally take a few days (if I actually am enjoying the story). This book, however, took me only 2 days because I could NOT put it down! I love that the main characters reprise their roles in this story, but I really enjoyed following a few of their children a bit more closely. The fact that the story takes us back to a few key events in Harry's history that were focal points of previous Harry Potter books made it all the more enjoyable. As with all of the Harry Potter books, there is an element of evil that overshadows the story, & there is death in the book as well. My age recommendation is based on these facts.

Age recommendation: 12 & over

On a scale of 1 - 10 stars, I give it 10!

I loved it. I do wish it was written as a book and not script form, but I do love it. I wanted to cry and scream so many times and I did laugh.

To be clear, I enjoy reading scripts; my rating isn't an intent to "punish" this publication for not being a full-fledged novel. I would be happy to see the play and I'm sure the cast, crew, and staging are all wonderful. It's not related to who was cast in which role, or whether queer-baiting was intentional as far as Scorpius and Albus are concerned.

As far as the story goes, I can take it or leave it. It feels like quality fan-fiction. I don't regret reading it, but it doesn't enhance my experience in the Wizarding World.

I love the Harry Potter series, and just about anything that pertains to his universe. However, I was disappointed in this play. It had all the characters, and a decent plot, but it just wasn't right somehow. The dater son relationship read convoluted, and it was lacking the talented narrative of Rowling that I have grown accustomed to. Glad I read it though!

Wow! What a roller coaster of a ride. The story is unexpected and incredible. I can't wait to see the play someday.

I wish J.K Rowling made an actual eighth book instead of a play. :(

HARRY: Albus Severus, you were named after two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew.
