I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I got into the story really quickly and couldn't put it down. I loved the plot and the crazy wish granting mishap. The only part I could maybe say took away from the story is I wanted the dad to get what he deserved and that part of the story was only vaguely wrapped up. I only purchase books I read and loved and this one will now be on my purchase list to reread in the future.

Down With the Shine is a comedic novel that features romance, growing up and fantasy. In this novel a young woman named Lennie has a past that most people wouldn't smile upon. Her dad was a famous criminal that eventually left and her mom is crazy and can barely talk to her. She now lives with her caring but no-so-caring uncles that make and sell moonshine, and they have the ability to grant wishes. After her best friend dies, Lennie attends an infamous party and grants everyone's wishes there. The whole thing turns out to be a mess and Lennie has to eventually get help from her father. Along the way, Lennie drifts apart from her best friend while she simultaneously falls in love with his twin.
I found this novel entertaining and enjoyed the many laughs it gave me. The novel's events are unpredictable and funny because of the sheer weirdness. Every chapter is surprising, full of crazy events after the wishes are granted, and also the relationships that Lennie forms and breaks with the people around her. The author takes a well-known idea of how granting wishes can go wrong and takes it to another level which made this book entertaining and surprising.
