Timothy is a good kid who did a bad thing. Now he's under house arrest for a whole year. He has to check in weekly with a probation officer and a therapist, keep a journal, and stay out of trouble. But when he must take drastic measures to help his struggling family, staying out of trouble proves more difficult than Timothy ever thought it would be.

Touching, humorous, and always original, House Arrest is a funny book for teens in verse about a good boy's hard-won path to redemption. The ideal addition to any young adult book collection, House Arrest will delight reluctant readers and provides teenage motivation when it's needed most.

Though an extremely fast read(about 2 hours long) House Arrest packs in a lot of story and emotion for such a fast read. With the story both sad and uplifting, depressing but also exciting, this book definitely deserves it's VA readers choice award. My complaints about the book was mainly it's size, as I feel like it was to fast, and that a slowdown would be nice. Overall, I give this book a 8/10, and a "Would Recommend Reading."

A 2017-2018 Missouri Mark Twain Readers Award nominee (grades 4-6).

Timothy is on house arrest for a year and must keep a journal and meet with a probation officer and a psychologist during that time. Through Timothy's journal we learn that he is hot-tempered but also that he is a caring big brother. His little brother Levi was born with a too thin trachea, so he has to have a trach tube to breathe and needs constant care and supervision.

I really enjoyed this book, although I didn't love the ending. This book is written in verse, and I wasn't sure what my 5th grade son would think, but he liked it--he agreed about the ending though. I've had several other kids tell me they loved it. For me that's a much better endorsement than anything I could say.

Well written and a fantastic journey through the emotions of a young boy dealing with grown up issues. Recommend for young adults and adults alike. Fast read that you won't want to put down.

This was the kind of book that jabs you in the heart a couple of times and leaves you wandering whether you want to smile, cry, hit something, or all of the above. The verse is perfect for such vivid emotion, and the wit of the narrator lightens the drama just enough to keep it from being overwhelming. Amazing read!
