I thought that the book was throwing to many things to you at once but it wasn't as hard to keep track of as The Westing Game.

This is the last book in the WaterFire Saga series. In this book, adventure continues as the six mermaids try to find their ancestors' talismans. From the past three books, we know that Serafina, Neela, Becca, and Ling have found their talismans. The most shocking thing that was revealed was that Orfeo, one of the mages who was told to be dead for over four thousand years, was alive. He is Astrid's ancestor, so Astrid goes to meet him. Her mission was to get his talisman. When she meets him, he was nothing like she expected. Orfeo thought of Astrid as his daughter and was treating her with respect and kindness. He even cured her throat and brought back her singing voice! Astrid was grateful to him and was stuck with a thought. Who should she support? Her friends? Or her blood? While Astrid was spending time with Orfeo, Ava found her talisman, but on her way back, Traho finds her, snatches her talisman, and kills Baby. That was a very sad part in the book. The most surprising part in the book was when I found out that Thalassa was still alive(she was said to be dead in the past books). Meanwhile, Mahdi was still pretending to be in love with Lucia. My favorite part in the book was the ending when we find out that Astrid did not betray her friends. The six mermaids work together and defeat Orfeo. That was a very satisfying part in the book. There were also many other interesting parts in the book but in order to find out what they are, read this amazing suspense and fantasy book. I definitely recommend reading this book. Rating- 5/5

I honestly have nothing to add to the rating. This book deserves its five out of five stars. The puns just kept flowing in quality and quantity, the plot just kept moving, and everything just got more and more intense. I didn't expect things to progress quickly, but the only one thing I would have complained about is how almost things felt a bit rushed in this final book in the series (maybe?) The cover is gorgeous, and the content even more so. I don't know why people give so much hate so often, like if they actually cared and tried to dig deeper maybe their shallow minds could benefit greatly. Fantastic! 5/5 stars

The last novel in the Waterfire Saga leads readers through twists and turns while concluding the series cleverly and effectively. Orfeo, Astrid’s ancestor, currently possesses one of the talismans necessary in defeating the rising evil and Astrid takes it upon herself to go and personally retrieve it. However, the odds are not in her favour since she’s going up against one of the strongest mages in history without the ability to songcast. Sera and the Black Fins are preparing for battle against her uncle Vallerio in hopes of regaining her home and love, Mahdi. In this battle of wits and power, who will emerge victorious once the dust settles? This novel was a satisfying end to the Waterfire Saga which I highly enjoyed. Throughout the novel, Astrid’s dynamic personality and uncovered secrets made me like her as a character and root for her. The pacing was good and there were very intense moments of both physical and mental battle. I would highly recommend this novel and I extremely enjoyed the captivating storytelling. Rating: 5/5. @Iron_Rose of The Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board
