Movie studio shoved a whole lot of characters from every era, put into a blender & press puree. Scott Summers the younger brother of Alex? WTH? Jubilee was introduced in the 1990s for crying out loud. What plot? So Xavier's house was rebuilt by mutants, but not the city or the bridges? Fast & loose franchise dying in a slow death.

This was an ok movie. It was better than X-Men 3: The Last Stand. Bleak, and they keep retelling a certain mutants origin. It is kinda tiring.

X-men Movies have the odd distinction of only coming in two categories: 'Enjoyably Good' and 'Just Bad'. This is one of the 'Just bad' ones. Where it does a good job is following the comic origins of some of the characters, with understandable twists. Storm, Cyclops, and Apocalypse's origin stories are fairly true to the comics, with a few necessary character stand ins. Where it falls apart is the writing, the overall plot, the character imbalances and the overall 'reboot' or 'origin story' for the main X-Men cast.

The villain doesn't seem to 'need' most of the henchmen he gathers and the overall conflict feels forced. The only story-line with interest is that of Erik/Magneto hiding out with his family in cold war Poland. That story would have made an interesting full movie on its own, yet it's cruelly cut short by getting rid of the family in order to force him into the main plot. Not cruel in a heartfelt cinematic way, but merely a sudden cut to converge stories. The whole movie felt 'forced' and 'made for the sake of making rather than telling a story'.

This was a good movie, I agree with you Gwen904. I feel really bad for Magneto

Okay… I know there's a lot of bad reviews out there for this film, but I have to disagree. I thought the characters were amazing, with an excellent cast. The plot was entertaining and the effects were astounding. I loved seeing the younger versions of all the characters from the original trilogy. The only complaint I have is: Keep religion out of it. Keep Christianity out of it. And stop making stereotypical Egyptians.

I guess this movie was necessary?

The biggest dissappointments are the shoehorn of the Dark Phoenix arc, Wolverine yet again, and killing off another major villain.

That X-men movie is in my opinion too narrative and not sufficiently packed with actions.

Violence: sequences of violence, action and destruction

Violence: This is the main problem with this movie. People are be-headed with sand, guards slit through their necks with a pocket watch, and [SPOILER] the main bad guy is impaled.

Violence: Lots of killing, lots of stabbing, lots of blood also blood being splattered on walls, lots of gross stuff, and lots of disintegrating.

Coarse Language: One use of f**k, but I agree with Elmo17Noodle, it was kind of funny because of the circumstances. A few uses of OMG.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: The most disturbing scene in this movie is when pieces of metal tear through someones back from the inside.

Charles Xavier: The world's already begun rebuilding its arsenals.

Erik Lensherr: It's human nature, Charles.

Charles Xavier: I still have hope.

Erik Lensherr: [wry laugh] Oh, yes. Hope.

Charles Xavier: I was right about Raven. I was even right about you.

Erik Lensherr: What about the rest of the world? Doesn't it ever wake you up in the middle of the night? The feeling that one day they'll come for you, and your children?

Charles Xavier: It does indeed.

Erik Lensherr: What do you do when you wake up to that?

Charles Xavier: I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul that comes to my school looking for trouble.
