Wow. I'm shocked at the negative reviews here. In film school "Easy Rider" was rightly shown as a cinematic "Masterpiece" and remains one of my Top 5 favorite movies of all time. If you don't like "Easy Rider," you're probably missing 95% of the nuances and artistic subtleties of the film. Time to take a Film History class and get educated about cinema!

Jack Nicholson plus all sorts of classic rock - sign me up!

Yep. In my opinion, Easy Rider was nothing but pretentiously shallow, hippie drivel. This dead-end movie proved to me (what I've always suspected) that the stoned-out 60's was an era in pop culture history that, in reality, totally sucked, big-time.

Easy Rider is the type of movie that I swear they were making up its asinine nonsense as they went along. And, I don't know about you, but I, for one, find watching people getting stoned to be about as thrilling as watching paint peel.

And, speaking about Dennis Hopper - Not only was he strictly an amateur when it came to his directing abilities, but, as an actor, his character portrayal as Billy in Easy Rider, literally, made my skin crawl with complete revulsion.

Glorifies drugs and motorcycles; un-relatable cliched characters.

"Easy Rider" is a work of art. It captures the life of two motorcyclists as they search for the "real" America. .You hear the music of the 1960's as Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper cross the United States. This is the era when young people were experimenting with drugs and dropping out of society. At the time, much of this seemed possible. Now we know that you really do need to be trained to be a farmer. This is the life of the counter coulter of the 60's. It is fascinating to look back on this time and know the results.

A dated road movie that brings back memories of the 60's and 70's, when the culture of hippies and pot smoking prevailed. Apart from that, I didn't get a lot out of it. Sound track is good.

I found the documentary that accompanies the DVD to have been very illuminating regarding the production of the movie. There wasn't a lot of dialogue at the beginning, which I found very interesting; nothing had to be forced. Some of the "mistakes" made during the shooting actually helped move the picture and make for some interesting moments.

Over the years since it's release, I still see the flaws and the genius in some parts of Easy Rider. Hopper has the most fun being himself, Peter Fonda hasn't learned believable acting techniques yet as he finally did 40 years later, but his stiffness tends to lend to his character's innocent search for that elusive "something else" that so many were searching for then and still search for. Nicholson of course is everyone's favorite. He's likeable, funny and yet almost foresees the trouble coming for them and the country in that most memorable line "this used to be a hell of a good country". In many ways we're in the same mess now as then, so it's still a sobering scene. I still cringe at the commune scene with the naive preachy talk about "city kids making it" as farmers. Those that actually tried that are probably living comfortable suburban lives today and glad of it. The soundtrack is still the best ever.

One of the best films I have seen in this year. It was entertaining and interesting. Great performances a must see for all. “Truly a really great movie worth the long library wait”.

I enjoyed this look back, because of it's look back on two guy's with Ramblin Fever and a love of the Open Road.
