In an effort to treat a debilitating mood disorder, Ayelet Waldman undertook a very private experiment, ingesting 10 micrograms of LSD every three days for a month. This is the story--by turns revealing, courageous, fascinating and funny--of her quietly psychedelic spring, her quest to understand one of our most feared drugs, and her search for a really good day.

Tried to listen to the audiobook. She lost me when, halfway through the first chapter, she called her yoga classmate an "idiot" for having a tattoo of a Tibetan mandala, the objection being "why would anyone have a symbol of impermanence permanently inked on their skin?" Um.... maybe because even our bodies are impermanent, and that's the whole point? I couldn't bear with her and her rich white lady problems. Maybe the rest of the book has some redeeming value but I doubt I'll be wasting any more time with it. If she had come across as more generous and reasoned up to this point in the book, I might have overlooked the mean spirited comment but honestly the overall tone is pretty grating.
