I liked this fiction Drama Love Story DVD. It is too scary for children. This is the main story very different than what Disney did. There is no singing or music. It is based on the original French story. It is spoken in French only. It has English Surtitles if you don't speak French. It is well done. It has real people in it. The beast looks like a cat. It has some mythology about it. It may have some digression from the original French story as it has a creditor pursuing the brother of Belle. There is some computer graphics done.

This was a visually gorgeous retelling of "Beauty and the Beast" that incorporates more of the elements of the original Villeneuve version, while still creating something that feels both fresh and timeless by mixing in a few themes pulled from other classic fairy stories. While the CGI was solidly okay, the costumes and sets were absolutely stunning, and I thought the streamlined feel of the dialogue really allowed the visual elements of the film to shine. Fans of other versions of "Beauty and the Beast" or "The Phantom of the Opera" will likely enjoy this dreamy retelling.

Checked this out not realizing it was the French version from 2014 but it was actually quite whimsical and beautiful visually, once you get past the English dubbing over the French actors. I love the beauty (Lea Seydoux) but not so much the beast (Vincent Cassel) who is just not handsome at all. Pretty good movie though.

Wonderful movie. Was closer to the Brother's Grimm version, enjoyed the movie so much glad to have my own copy.

Ce film est tout à fait merveilleux. Tout est fabuleux, les effets spéciaux, les décors, les costumes, les acteurs, tout! Les adultes seront émerveillés tout autant que les enfants. À ne pas manquer!

A new spin on the classic fairy tale, closer to the old Brothers Grimm version. Nicely done, and they tried to give the Beast a little more background than most interpretations, though about a third of the way through they seemed to get distracted by what they could do with CG (seriously, there was NO POINT to those dog-lemur thingies), which drew them away from developing the story as deeply as they could have. Still good, though.

An unexpected romance blooms after the the youngest daughter of a merchant who has fallen on hard times offers herself to the mysterious beast to which her father has become indebted.

A stylish and new interpretation of the familiar fairy tale of a young woman who surrenders herself to save her father, becoming the captive of a mysterious beast who's more than he appears. Cassell is brooding and ideal as the beast, while Lea Seydoux brings gravity, strength, and spirit to her role as Belle. Dreamlike at times, the film has a supernatural mood that draws in the viewer nicely.
