After her older brother, Lucas, died from cancer, Oakley struggles to maintain a healthy mind and starts to fall into depression. After her parent’s divorce, Oakley’s mom takes her to California to try and take a breather from everything back at home. Her mom then gives her a notebook filled with letters from Lucas before he passed which became her treasure. They went through all of their experiences and showed how Lucas saw his precious little sister. Oakley liked the way he saw her and tried to follow his advice. All along, she has been falling for a surfer named Carson who has also been dealing with struggles back at home. He makes her feel closer and closer to the Oakley her brother saw. But can she really be happy with Carson when her brother never even had the chance to experience love? This novel depicted love and loss so realistically that I was engaged in this novel not only mentally but also emotionally. The characters were well made and the plot was heartfelt and hopeful. <3 make more of a back story for him. He has a great character, but reading back, he deserves a book about his previous life living.
