They turned a terrible book into a mediocre movie. I spent most of the time admiring the beautiful Vancouver scenery in the background.

I knew within the first 16 minutes that this was awful. The writing is so bad, and even with a cast that includes Marcia Gay Harden it's still a waste of time. Don't bother. It's about as erotic as watching grass grow and there's so many stupid plot twists, it's ridiculous. I love fast forward. I can see a 2 hour movie in 15 minutes!

What can be said that hasn't already been said? I'll at least say that this movie is better than the first one, but only because the characters feel like they have a little more actual chemistry going, and the production feels a bit more comfortable with what they're doing. That's it. Instead of being totally cringey, the movie instead feels like just a somewhat regretable affair that direly deserves a breath of fresh air.

What a total waste of time. I honestly don't understand what the hype was around this movie. Was it cutting edge and pushing boundaries??? NOT AT ALL - maybe if you are extremely conservative but in general it is a run of the mill "B" class movie. A controlling man with a soft speaking woman both of whom have zero character development and you could care less about the story.
If you are looking for skin just surf the internet. If you are looking for a worthwhile movie - THIS IS NOT IT!

I feel embarassed admitting that I watch this thing. Not for the nudity or the awkward quasi-softcore sex scenes but rather how awful it is. It's a film that has nothing to say, other than it should have stayed just a book. In fact, it feels like a sequel written by a random fan... I bet some fanfiction based on the first book would be far superior than this dreary, uninspired trainwreck of a film. There's going to be a third one?! Bad writing, bad direction, bad acting... Probably the only thing good on the film was the craft services. It makes Showgirls look like Citizen Kane.

It looks to me that I'm the only one that loves this movie. My opinion is about the exact opposite of other reviewers. I thought Dakota Johnson did a great job of acting and the whole thing was totally interesting and exciting. Casting was excellent -- always good to see Max Martini in an understated role like this. He is such a credible tough guy. If you like a love story, this trilogy nails it.

As the character Christian explains it, it's not dominance but Sadism, and for those that haven't spent 34 years in N. California, plain vanilla movies may be more suitable.

This was the worst movie ever. It should be titled 50 shades of garbadge.

While I was pleasantly surprised with the first instalment of the FIFTY SHADES film trilogy, I did not get the same vibe off this latest film. FIFTY SHADES DARKER wasn't darker at all. It was boring and felt completely pointless. There was no plot, no momentum, and nothing of consequence. It was so dull and monotonous. Not worth it -- I do not recommend FIFTY SHADES DARKER.

What a boring movie ,just like the first one. There are some sick people out there that gets into this kind of stuff. So we are going to have a third movie and I know everybody can't wait for this one!.

The first movie had better music and a "buzz" behind it which motivated me to give it a shot. I love Jamie Dornan, which brought me back (The Fall anyone?) to 50 Shades Darker but the leads have zero chemistry. Please tell me that it's just a rumour about a third movie!!
I am betting Charlie Hunnam is REALLY glad he passed on this movie trilogy.....
