He called himself, "the wrong man at the wrong time." A rather ordinary man, an unprepared vice-president....becomes the President.

Excellent book and well written! I learned a great deal about the relationship between Truman and Roosevelt, the negotiations with Great Britain and Russia and the activities that lead to the dropping of the atomic bomb. I enjoy reading about the people who have streets in KCMO named after them including the Wards and the Nolan's and others.
I love reading about Harry Truman and this book does not disappoint.

Incredibly well-written, fascinating.

I ended up feeling quite sorry for Bess and admired many of the people described.
