Cinderella goes to the con in this fandom-fueled twist on the classic fairy tale. Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad's old costume), Elle's determined to winches..unless her stepsisters get there first. Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they're nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he's ever wanted, but the Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise. Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom. From the Hardcover edition.

This book was adorable! It was a really fun, breezy read. It's all the Cinderella conventions that you know and love, and the main couple is really cute.

A highly entertaining, geeky spin on Cinderella. Reminiscent of "Fangirl" by Rainbow Rowell.

A sweet reimagining of Cinderella in the social media age. Cute story and characters. Worth a Sunday afternoon read.

It has been quite a while since I've liked a book this much. Though it was a take on a fairy tale and it had some teen movie romance elements, it never once felt contrived. It was smart, well written, plausible and had great characters. There were moments that made me full on clutch the book, both out of sorrow and out of pride and other happy feels. Because most of all, writer Ashley Poston gets it. She gets what it means to be a fan, to be a part of a fandom (or many) and what it means to the fans who love it. To live in the impossible universe. Now I kind of wish the show Starfield existed. I want to know what the promise-sworn salute is, who the Nox and the Federation are and what the ship Prospero looks like. Well done!

I took out this book expecting a fun, light, quick read.
And that's what I got.
But I got so much more.
I am astounded by this book. I'm not giving it five stars for grammar, or writing style, or whatever. I'm giving it's well-deserved five stars because the author so well resonates with a fangirl. The beautiful descriptions of what being part of a fandom means to Elle actually brought me to tears.
This is on the bottom of the list of professional books-- because it's not.
On the bottom for realistic-- because it's SO not.
But I don't care.
I got my beautiful little fluffy romance.
But I found a new treasure, an addition to my admittedly long list of favorite books.

Geekerella is an adorable fangirling twist on the classic story of Cinderella. Ella works toward attending a Geeky Con event in hopes of winning the contest and scoring tickets to the premiere opening night of a revival movie of her favourite TV show. It's a super cute book that's easy to read, but there's also some drama and emotional moments for the characters.

I loved this story! it's such a fun twist on the Cinderella story. I enjoyed Elle with her hopes and dreams and fandom of a sci-fi TV show. I enjoyed Sage who doesn't really give a crap and helps Elle like a fairy godmother and I liked Darien who you kind of wonder if some child stars or any celebrities have issues like he does. I thought this was a lot of fun to read and if I had read it on the weekend I probably would have read it in a day. It's a very fast read but entertaining. Not a deep book but who cares, I like being entertained. I will say talking to a stranger over text messaging is a little creepy and you don't know who is on the other side. It could be a sex offender.
