Fred Van Lente not the first person who done a murder in comic convention. That belong to sadly out of print Bimbos of the Death Sun by Sharyn McCrumb in 1988 in fictional comic-convention & freaking won a mystery award.
However, cute cover belies the film noir gumshoe type mystery with more murder, snarky observations (coplay, fetishists willing to pay huge money on innocent to call the cops requests, to glut of comic book awards) & a better scam involving new old stock. He draws way better than folksy Sharyn
I hope he wins the Edgar award.
