You'd think after seeing all the earlier versions of A STAR IS BORN that I wouldn't cry knowing every story beat by now. Not so. This was a worthy remake and Lady Gaga is phenomenal.

I have enjoyed all versions of this movie, including this one. The music and acting are phenomenal. Although the storyline is predictable, its a classic drug/alcohol story with clear enabling of loved ones and paid ones surrounding the addict. I have watched it several times and enjoyed it as much as the first time. Its seedy and not family friendly, but you [should] know that going in. Great job Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga!

I read most of the comments, so won't repeat those written but how could it not be said in any of the comments how very disappointing and oh so inappropriate it was to start out the movie using the F bomb in the first sentence/paragraph? What kind of writing is this for a "classic remake"? That was also the first word out of Bradley Cooper's character's mouth. Wasn't anyone else appalled that an F bomb was considered a great way to start a movie's dialog? Trash and slutty don't begin to express my distaste. Ruined the whole experience. We just turned it off.

High quality junk

I thought it was good but the downfall of the male with the rise of the female singer was inevitable. She put up with waaaaaay toooo much crap from him from his drugs & alcohol fueled life style. I think most people would have said ADIOS a long time ago. She did NOT need his fame nor celebrity. It got a little slow in the middle with the "drama" of his behaviors & rants.

Don't get what all the hype was about - way too long and drawn out and too much Bradley Cooper. Jackson Maine was such a jerk, it was hard to understand either the attraction or why Ally stayed with him, other than the has-been star power. Keeping with the tragic but inevitable ending as a result of risky drug or alcohol-fueled behavior would have been better than a martyr's suicide. And PS, the nose business was just ridiculous. What a disappointment.

This is one of the few movies I've seen that I felt lived up to all of the hype. A Star is Born is not only a story of an unknown singer/songwriter's glorious rise to fame, but also a heart-breaking depiction of how alcohol & drug addiction can shatter lives. It's been so long since I've watched the other versions that I was watching this one with fresh, tear-stained eyes. I loved it, even though it's a crushing story. The chemistry between Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga was great and so were their musical performances. Have a box of tissues ready!

Not very good although I enjoyed the music and the acting. Always enjoy Sam Elliot.

Really good film making on the part of Bradley Cooper (and acting as well). Bogs down a little about an hour-plus in, but that is the tale: gotta tell the rise of one star with the fall of another. Original music and process of creating it was great to hear and see. Touching and poignant overall, but hated the ending, and think Lady Gaga should stick to singing.
