“Saving Private Ryan” is a movie that came out in 1998 about a group of US soldiers looking for Private James Ryan in France during World War II. Private James Ryan’s three brothers already passed away due to the war, so the U.S. army wanted to send him home so that his mother could at least have one son come home alive. Personally, I am not the biggest fan of war movies and I found this movie phenomenal. Tom Hanks, who plays “Captain Miller”, is an amazing actor that was perfect for the role. I can’t picture a better actor to help play such an emotional and suspenseful movie. It really does not hold back at showing how gruesome the D-Day invasion in France really was. Many people say that this is the most realistic looking World War II movie to date, it even won an Oscar award for Cinematography back in 1999. I highly recommend even just watching the first 30 minutes of the movie that show the invasion in Normandy beach. I rate this movie 5/5 stars. @kyky18 of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
