6/6 - Skiing vampires? Hell yeah! Even if the rest of the book's crap it'll be worth reading just for the thought of vampires (the first examples who pop into my mind are Eric and Edward - a race between a brooding and sparkly vampire and a blond Adonis in a hot pink lycra bodysuit - either way, hilarious). To be continued... 7/6 - Well, skiing vampires (dhampirs, actually) weren't much different from skiing humans, just done in the dark (I was hoping for some Strigoi ski-chasing Rose and Dimitri down the slopes a la that Bond movie). This was better than the first book, more entertaining, faster paced. The one continuing problem I have is Rose's decision making, she makes the most 'punch the wall because you're so frustrating' decisions of any book character I've ever known. She never seems to learn - keeps on drinking (how many times do you have drink too much and make a bad decision before you get yourself killed or finally learn your lesson?), keeps on mouthing off, keeps on taking revenge for slights (real or imagined) that just make the situation worse for everyone (I'm thinking of Mason here, I wonder if she'll learn that hard lesson) - I could train a puppy with more ease than her. If there are teams I'm definitely on Team Dimitri, Adrian seems too smarmy and possibly evil for my liking. This one only kept me up from 11 pm till 2:45 am, that's a much better night's sleep than Thursday night was. Already got the next one on hold at the library.
