A good documentary that could've been great and so is a little frustrating. In 1974, Zaire hosted the Rumble in the Jungle, a hyped boxing match that pitted Muhammed Ali against George Foreman. There's already a documentary about the fight, the galvanizing "When We Were Kings." This is about the concert that was put on at the same time and featured James Brown, Bill Withers, the Spinners, Celia Cruz, and Miriam Meekba, among others. Brown is the undisputed star and I wish they'd featured more of his songs. The documentary wastes way too much time with the preparation for the concert and doesn't get to the music quickly enough, which is why it's not as good as it could've been. I'd also suggest "Wattstax," "Get on Up" (James Brown biopic), and "Only the Strong Survive."
