The Kill Order was the prologue to the Maze Runner Series. Dashner introduces a new set of characters as the story is set thirteen years before the original trilogy. Surprisingly, the new set of characters were very likable and one of them was very tough and courageous. The story was very interesting as it was exciting and fun to read. The book fills in the blanks for anyone wondering how the world in the story turned out the way it was. While reading, I was able to picture the world the characters lived in as the storytelling was comprehensive. Furthermore, the plot was very thought out and well written. In my opinion, this was the best book in the series as every new character introduced was either better or as good as the ones in the previous books. There were also fewer characters which allowed Dashner to give a more in-depth view of each one. All in all, the Kill Order is the best book in the series and if you have read the previous books then give this a try as well. I rate the book a 5/5!. @JamesDashnerd of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library The Death Cure was the third installment to The Maze Runner series. In this book, the characters tried to find out more about their past. James Dashner put more puzzle pieces together for the reader. This book was my favourite of the whole series as there was more of a mystery theme within the story. The book was still exciting nonetheless as there were still action-packed chapters. However, my favourite aspect of the book was figuring out more about the characters and their histories. This gave me a deeper connection to the book and the characters. I felt anger or even compassion towards them. The storytelling was good enough to make me feel like I was with the characters throughout the whole adventure. All in all, I enjoyed this book so much so that I would stay up late just to keep reading. I would even wonder about the story while trying to fall asleep. Thus, I believe that this book deserves a 5/5. If you have read the previous Maze Runner books, read The Death Cure, it will not disappoint! @JamesDashnerd of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library The Death Cure was, like many series, not as great as the first book; however, I think that it concluded the series well. I appreciated how it didn’t just act to tie any loose ends, but also had a full plot of its own. You also learn a lot more about the characters in this book, as Thomas makes many new revelations. There are a lot of shocking moments, sad moments, and action-filled chapters! I would recommend this book to other people who have read the first two books of the series. It is, overall, a satisfying ending to the story. @PenelopeScriptor of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
