The book The Dragon Turn is written by Canadian author Shane Peacock who was born in Thunder Bay grew up in Kapuskasing and lives with his family near Cobourg, Ontario. This book takes place in 1869 and starts off with 16 year old Sherlock attending a magic show with Irene Doyle. This magic show is preformed by a fumbling magician named Alistair Hemsworth who dazzles everybody in the audience by making a dragon appear in a cage with a woman who is his assistant. When the performance is over and the dragon is gone Irene takes Sherlock backstage to see Hemsworth after the show when they see Hemsworth he asks Irene if she wants to sing for him as the opening act but as they’re talking Inspector Lestrade and his son Lestrade junior come from Scotland Yard to arrest Hemsworth for killing the wizard Nottingham because a pool of blood, spectacles and a few chunks of flesh were found in what people claim to be his secret workshop. Now this is the fifth book in The Boy Sherlock Holmes series some people say it’s a good start off to the series but I would disagree because you would have no idea who a lot of the characters are so if I were you I would start from the beginning of the series so you can learn who all the characters are. This is quite a good book but as far as I can tell most people expected it to be like the classics but it’s not really like the classics but I would recommend this book for grades 3 to 6 and not for the die hard Sherlock Holmes fans.
