While the author is a bit preachy at times, this is a great book for learning about the slow living movement. Oxenreider takes lessons from her time living in Turkey and applies them to life in Portland, Oregon. She describes the challenge of avoiding processed foods in favor of fresh, whole food. Yet she is not one to skimp on good food. Better to fill your cart with food you can taste, savor, and spend time enjoying than a quick microwaved meal. She has a blog, Simple Mom, with more tips on living life with purpose.
