Is Baldacci really a "favorite storyteller" as the flaps of this book say? Perhaps once his books were on the #1 New York Bestseller list, but I don't think this title will be. I suspended disbelief and just read/scanned the words on the page. The author moves the story along by showing off the work of his 2 special agents who have appeared in two of his other novels. BTW, Baldacci, towards the end of this novel, is thinking of retiring them. Has the author tired of them too? The author describes 3-4 dangerous, action filled events to show how these agents work. These events are stand alones and are not related to the others in the novel except that the 2 agents are involved. This novel is an easy mindless read and doesn't require much on behalf of the reader. The author often uses colloquial vocabulary, chit chat, and just plain boring dialogue. Perhaps his early novels may provide better reading enjoyment.
