Have you ever gotten into a book that seems well written and you hope the storyline will develop into something good? That didn’t happen here. You read on and on about the dark horrors that a perverted psychotic man puts teenage women through, but he is never shut down (well, maybe eventually). It’s a dark story. You have to be able to read about mental, physical and emotional abuse and all the while ask why numbers in this case cannot overthrow the pervert’s plans. The Gardener is so self-absorbed into his own pleasures, even allowing his son(s) to become part of his perverted life-style, that you think at some point the number of women would be able to overpower him and escape. I had a real hard time with the women taking on subservient roles and being used as disposable objects for someone’s twisted pleasure.
